It’s time for an update!
|
If you’re learning Chinese, we have good news: we’ve added the pinyin button, just like on the mobile app.Isn’t pinyin enough? Click on the translation button to see the translation of the entire message.
We’ve added the [I Learn] tab to the review section. On this page, you can review all the words you’ve clicked on to see their translations.
The [I Understand] list (the words used in your conversations) and the [I Speak] list (the words you’ve used yourself) were already available, so now the review section is complete!
Just like on the old web app, you can now hold the spacebar to record your voice. This makes the user experience much smoother.
Want to review your vocabulary lists offline?
You can now download the lists as a CSV file so you can print them out or add them to your flashcard app.
In the app, you can now see the transcription of what you said. It makes the learning experience feel smoother - at least, that’s how we experience it.
This is a first step toward building a messenger-like chat where you can see previous messages.
Give it a try!
You might wonder why this is an improvement…
We noticed that some users were sending five-minute voice messages. Not only did the platform often fail to respond, but even when it did, the feedback was very limited.
Teacher AI works best if you talk to it like you talk to a friend. Keep it interactive and to the point.
If you avoid overwhelming your teacher with long voice messages, it can give you more useful feedback and correct (almost) every mistake.
To help you keep your voice messages short, we’ve added a 90-second time limit. Look:
As most of you know, we’re building Teacher AI with our celebrity co-founder XiaomaNYC.
Since the launch, we’ve also cloned other popular language teachers on YouTube. For the most popular languages, we already had teachers based on these “language celebrities.”
But now, we’ve also added influencer clones for:
- Dutch 🇳🇱
- Turkish 🇹🇷
- Norwegian 🇳🇴
- German 🇩🇪
Let's start with Kim from the YouTube channel Dutchies to Be - Learn Dutch with Kim 🇳🇱.
In this video, she shows how Dutch learners can use the app to get unlimited speaking practice with her AI clone:
We’ve also partnered with Can from the popular YouTube channel Turkishle 🇹🇷
You can find their clones in our app!
You’ll soon be able to discuss popular videos created by your favorite language teachers on YouTube. The idea is that you first watch a video on a certain grammar point (on YouTube), and then go to the app to practice that grammar point.
Remember this page (Spanish A1 Grammar Practice) where you can find prompts to practice 100 grammar points for Spanish?
We’re creating exercises for all the most popular languages, and they’ll soon be available inside the app!
This feature is ready on the test server—we’re just testing it a bit more.
On this page (100 Topics for Conversation), you can find 100 topics to talk about with your tutor, organized by level.
You’ll soon be able to find all these discussion topics and role-play scenarios in the app.
This is a feature for advanced learners who want to practice more natural conversations without any pauses or looking at transcripts.
It will allow you to talk to our teachers just like you’d talk to someone on a phone call, with almost no delays.
This might sound a bit scary at first, but remember, you’re talking to AI teachers—so no need to feel anxious!
We’re aware that the “clicking on words to see the translation” feature can break for every now and then. Last Sunday, this resulted in temporary errors and slower response times. While his issue was fixed quickly, e’re working on the final solution for this issue.
After that, we’ll be focusing on the following:
And more...
I’ll let you know when the new features go live!
All the best,
